World Environmental Day was celebrated at the Department of Geography, University of Jaffna on 6th of June 2022 under the guidance of the Head, Geography Department. Emeritus Prof.P.Balasuntharampillai (Former Vice-Chancellor, University of Jaffna) and Prof.K.Suthakar (Dean, Faculty of Arts) were participated as the Chief guest and Special Guest in this event. Part of this event, a quiz competitive exam was conducted among the students of the Geography and Planning organized by our senior lecturer Mrs. V.Piratheepa with the help of other staff members. Totally 92 students were actively participated and five students were selected based on the marks. Certificates and cash prices are awarded to the students to promote and encourage environmental knowledge among the student communities with the funding assistance of our staff members.
